Lacuna was a response to and balancing of Jim Thomson’s 2007 piece Familiar, from The Art Gallery of Burlington’s permanent collection.

The method used to create the shape was to cut the warp as I went and incorporate it into the weft, a technique I learned from Paivi Suomi's article on historical shaping of the v-neck on the loom:
